PAST EVENTS

Avian Sanctuary and Protection

Our first Animal Welfare project was a huge success. We visited the Avian Sanctuary and Protection and helped make the place nice and tidy for the birds. We also got to feed the birds and take care of them including the ones that were injured and sick. At the end of a hot day, we cooled off with some Menchies.

SLC VegFest 2021

VegFest is SLC's only event dedicated to promoting vegetarianism and veganism. Volunteers helped out at the kid's area and helped represent the Utah Animal Rights Coalition (UARC) in spreading awareness for gas chamber euthanasia. Some of our volunteers even dressed up in animal costumes to show support for animal rights.

Colony Restoration

Our next event was helping community cats stay warm and have food in the winter. We turned an old, neglected colony with lots of weeds into a feral cat paradise with warm shelters, feeding stations, and buildings to keep the snow and rain away from the shelters. At the end of the event, we enjoyed Crumble cookies as a thank you for everyone's hard work.

Treats for Animals

In October, our volunteer group went to Salt Lake County Animal Services to help their shelter. We made tasty dog "pupsicles,"  built enrichment toys for dogs and cats, and took a tour of how the SLC Animal Services helps animals in our community. Our volunteers learned about many issues affecting cats and dogs in our community and how they can help. We topped off an amazing experience with some snacks and drinks from Thirst.

Shelter Making/Delivering

In November, our volunteer group partnered with Olympus High's Friend 2 Friend program. First, they initiated a drive to collect over 40 styrofoam coolers. Using the coolers, they built 40 insulated, straw-filled cat shelters. These shelters were placed at various colonies throughout Utah from West Valley City to Provo. Altogether, our shelters will help hundreds of cats warm this winter.
